Do you need to find a job but aren’t sure where to start? The organizations below are funded to help you learn how to find a job in London and its surrounding areas. Many of these organizations have special services for newcomers and immigrants, and connections to employers looking to hire.
Employment Ontario can help you get training, build skills, or find a job. This website has resources and a live chat option, which allows you to speak to a government employee who can answer questions related to your job search, employment services, academic credentials assessments, and bridging programs.
Job Search Programs – Specifically for Newcomers
Internationally-educated individuals who are permanent residents, convention refugees or live-in caregivers
Work-authorized newcomer job seekers including permanent residents, convention refugees, live-n caregivers, naturalized Canadians, refugee claimants and newcomers of any other status on Ontario Works.

International Students
Fanshawe College – Career Services for Students and alumni – Designed to help students find part-time employment during studies, and also future career preparation.
Brescia University College –International Students – Information about programming, activities, events, and other valuable resources for international students and other interested individuals.
Huron University College – Information about programming, activities, events, and other valuable resources for international students and other interested individuals.
King’s University College – International Students – Information about programming, activities, events, and other valuable resources for international students and other interested individuals.
Western University – International students geared at assisting students with their job search process, and how to apply for off-Campus and post-graduation work permits. Only current international students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs are eligible. It includes some services for accompanying family members.
Employment Services for People with Disabilities
ATN Access is a non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities find employment, upgrade their skills and qualifications, and specializes in computer-assisted training and learning.
March of Dimes Employment Services ensures people with disabilities have access to employment. They offer job preparation services and connections with employers who actively hire people with disabilities.
Employment Geared Education and Language Programs
Collège Boréal – programs for internationally educated Francophone professionals in:
- Supply Chain and Logistics
- Health System Navigator
- Management and Leadership
Eligibility criteria
- Naturalized Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a convention refugee, protected person or refugee claimant eligible to work in Canada (must not have previous Canadian work experience in the field)
- Must have a post-secondary degree from outside of Canada
- Minimum of 2 years related professional experience from outside of Canada
- Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 7 in French AND level 5 in English.
Collège Boréal – Enhanced Language Training for newcomers to improve your language skills. Includes 8 weeks in-class language training, and a 5-week work placement or a mentorship with a Canadian employer.
Eligibility criteria
- 18 years or older
- Permanent resident, convention refugee, or protected person.
- Level 6+ of the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)

- Education, training or experience in the Health, Business, Management or Project Management sectors

Thames Valley District School Board Adult Education
- English for Employment in Food & Hospitality
- English for Employment in the Retail Industry
- English for Employment as a Childcare Worker

- English for Employment in the Hairstyling & Barbering Industry
- English for Employment in the Healthcare Sector

Eligibility criteria
- Whose first language is not English; achieved a minimum of CLB 4 or 5 (depending on program criteria) and
- Who is 18 years old or has completed their high school diploma and is not a day school pupil enrolled in any publicly supported day school in Ontario; and must be a:
- naturalized Canadian citizen, permanent resident, Convention refugee or a refugee claimant; or
- provincial nominee, or their dependent, approved through the Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program but has not yet been processed to receive permanent resident status; or
- temporary foreign worker, or their dependent, approved through the Canadian Experience Class but has not yet been processed to receive permanent resident status; or
- approved foreign domestic worker under the Live-In Caregiver program.
London District Catholic School Board
Offer adult education through the Centre for Lifelong Learning, which has programs in the following areas:
- Adult Credit
- ESL (English as a Second Language)
- LBS (Literacy and Basic Skills)
- IILP (International & Indigenous Languages Program)
- Summer School
Second Career – Assistance for persons who have been laid off or who are looking for a new career? Second Career is an Ontario government program that will pay your tuition.
Academic Credential Evaluations and Assessments, and Related Employment Pathways
WILL Access (formerly the Access Centre for Regulated Employment) – Information and application assistance to internationally trained individuals seeking licensure or related employment in Ontario’s regulated professions. This also includes accessing the Internationally Trained Worker Loan Program provides, and counselling for alternative Employment pathways.
Eligibility Criteria
Must at least 18 years old and a resident of Ontario.
Must have international postsecondary education or international work experience and possess a valid Canadian work permit.
Must also be one of the following:
- refugee claimant with a valid work permit
- permanent resident
- Convention refugee
- Canadian citizen
Job Finding resources specifically for Newcomers
Connect immigrant job seekers with regional business leaders through occupation and industry specific networking and events. Contact one of their Community Partners for a referral.

Provides employers across Southwestern Ontario coordinated access to qualified Canadian newcomer talent.
Provides Job Seekers the opportunity to learn about the types of skills employers are seeking, increased knowledge of regional labour markets, and preparation for interviews and evaluate job offers through Job Match Postings
Eligibility Criteria
Must at least 18 years old and a resident of Ontario.
Must also be one of the following:
- refugee claimant with a valid work permit
- Valid work permit
- permanent resident
- Convention refugee
- Canadian citizen
Certain minimum language (CLB) requirements, and must be born outside of Canada.
WIL is a non-profit community organization that has been providing quality employment support services and career development solutions since 1984. It is an Alternative Career Options for Internationally Trained Educated Health Care Professionals. WIL offers programs and services specifically for newcomers and immigrants, including tips on how to search for jobs and connecting employers to job seekers.

Employment Sector Council and Job Developers Network
- Employment Sector Council (ESC) is a collaborative network of more than 40 member organizations, which work together to provide high-quality, consistent employment and training services across our region.

Eligibility Criteria
Job Seekers and Employers are encouraged to contact these community employment organizations in their area to receive no-fee, professional, and high-quality assistance.
For most services clients must be:
Must at least 18 years old and a resident of Ontario.

- permanent resident
- Convention refugee
- Canadian citizen
Individuals who are not Canadian Citizens or permanent residents (i.e. with 900-series SINs) may access Resource and Information services, but are not eligible for ‘assisted services’ (i.e. Job Search, Job Matching, Placement and Incentives, and Job Retention) under the Ministry’s existing Employment Service.

London Employment Help Centre provides advocacy and employment services, and to help individuals access employment opportunities and social benefits.
Goodwill offers services for job seekers which can include workshops, job search planning, resume and cover letter consultation, and job listing recommendations.
London Training Centre is a non-profit organization that provides skills and training opportunities, employment services, and certifications for: safe food handling, health and safety, computer training, and customer service training.
Nokee Kwe offers culturally sensitive, client-centered and holistic approaches that focus on identifying and finding solutions to employment and learning barriers.
Hutton House has a variety of free employment programs and services. They can help with writing resumes, skill improvement, goal setting, understanding employment options, and advocating for workplace accommodation when needed.
LEADS Employment Services is a non-profit employment and skills development agency providing assistance to people above the age of 14 with physical, mental health, development and learning disabilities
